Best UK Stock Market ETFs: High Dividend & Low-Fee Funds

The FTSE 100, launched on 3 January 1984, tracks the 100 largest blue-chip companies on the London Stock Exchange using a free-float adjusted market capitalisation methodology. Roughly 80–82% of FTSE 100 revenues come from overseas markets, making this index more of a global equity play denominated in GBP than a purely domestic UK benchmark.

The index leans heavily toward traditional sectors — financial services, energy, healthcare, and consumer staples — while technology remains underrepresented compared to US stock market ETFs. Top constituents include AstraZeneca, Shell, HSBC, Unilever, and Rolls-Royce Holdings, which together account for roughly a third of the entire index weight.

Several UK stock market ETFs give access to this market at very low cost:

  • iShares Core FTSE 100 UCITS ETF (ISF) — tracks the FTSE 100 with full physical replication and quarterly dividend distributions. An accumulating version trades under ticker CUKX.
  • Vanguard FTSE 100 UCITS ETF (VUKG) — also fully replicates the FTSE 100 with dividends reinvested automatically. Domiciled in Ireland.
  • Vanguard FTSE 250 UCITS ETF — targets UK mid-cap companies, which have higher domestic revenue exposure than the FTSE 100, making it a more direct bet on the British economy.
  • iShares UK Dividend UCITS ETF (IUKD) — the only ETF tracking the FTSE UK Dividend+ index, holding around 50 of the highest-yielding UK-listed stocks. Launched in November 2005 and pays dividends quarterly. Its sector tilt favours financials, consumer staples, and utilities.

The UK market is known for offering some of the highest dividend yields among developed markets, driven by its concentration in energy and financial stocks. For a deeper look at individual British dividend companies or the full FTSE 100 constituent list, see our dedicated pages.
