Largest Listed Companies in Finland by Market Capitalization

Founded on October 7, 1912, the Helsinki Stock Exchange — now operating as Nasdaq Helsinki — lists approximately 193 companies and serves as Finland’s primary securities market. All trading is conducted in euros through the INET Nordic electronic platform, which connects Nasdaq’s Nordic and Baltic exchanges.

The benchmark OMX Helsinki 25 index tracks the 25 most actively traded Finnish stocks, with a single-stock weight cap of 10%. It has served as the main reference for Finnish equity portfolios since its launch in 1988. A notable milestone came in 1993, when Finland abolished all foreign ownership restrictions, significantly opening the market to international capital.

Finland’s listed companies span several globally competitive sectors:

• Financials: Nordea Bank (headquartered in Helsinki, listed across Nasdaq Nordic exchanges), Sampo (insurance and asset management)
• Industrials: KONE (elevators and escalators, based in Espoo), Wärtsilä (marine and energy technology, operating in over 80 countries)
• Technology: Nokia (telecommunications equipment, also listed on the NYSE and a member of the Euro Stoxx 50)
• Basic Materials: UPM-Kymmene (forest-based bio industry across six business areas)
• Energy & Utilities: Neste (renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel), Fortum (electricity and heat generation)
