Czech Dividend Stocks: Dividend Companies Listed in Czechia

Spring is dividend season on the Prague Stock Exchange (PSE) — most major Czech-listed companies declare and distribute their payouts between mid-April and the end of July. The PSE, originally opened in 1871 and reopened in 1993, is home to around 60 listed companies, with a concentration of mature, dividend-paying businesses in energy, banking, and heavy industry.

Dividends carry more weight in the Czech equity market than on most European bourses. Czech-listed companies have a long track record of electing to pay out meaningful proportions of their profits to shareholders, and the market’s mix of businesses is generally viewed by European and emerging-market investors as relatively stable.

The most prominent Czech dividend stocks come from a handful of sectors:

  • Energy: ČEZ, the market heavyweight founded during the 1992 privatization, with the Czech Ministry of Finance as majority shareholder. Philip Morris ČR typically pays its dividend in June, while ČEZ distributes at the turn of July and August.
  • Banking: Komerční Banka (a member of the Société Générale group), Moneta Money Bank, and Erste Group Bank — all among the top five constituents of the PX index.
  • Insurance: Vienna Insurance Group (VIG), also a major PX index component.
  • Consumer products: Kofola (beverages) and Colt CZ Group (industrials/defense).

All trading on the PSE is denominated in Czech Crowns (CZK). The exchange operates under the supervision of the Czech National Bank, and its main index — the PX — is a free-float weighted price index of the 12 most liquid stocks, with a maximum weight per share capped at 20%.
