Largest Alcoholic Beverage Companies by Market Cap

Kweichow Moutai, established in 1951 and listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, and Anheuser-Busch InBev, headquartered in Leuven, Belgium, consistently rank as the two largest alcoholic beverage companies in the world by market capitalization. The industry spans three main segments — beer, wine, and spirits — with beer accounting for roughly 75–80% of global alcohol consumption by volume, while spirits and wine command higher per-unit prices.

The beer market is more concentrated than the wine and spirits segments, which remain relatively fragmented. Leading companies operate across all three categories:

• Beer: Anheuser-Busch InBev (Euronext: ABI / NYSE: BUD) owns over 400 brands including Budweiser, Corona, and Stella Artois. Heineken (Euronext: HEIA), based in Amsterdam, operates in over 190 countries with more than 300 beer and cider brands.
• Baijiu (Chinese spirits): Kweichow Moutai (600519) and Wuliangye Yibin both trade on Chinese exchanges. Moutai’s flagship 53-degree Feitian Moutai is widely known as China’s national drink.
• Multi-category spirits: UK-listed Diageo (LSE: DGE / NYSE: DEO), formed in 1997 from the merger of Grand Metropolitan and Guinness, carries over 200 brands — including Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, and Don Julio — sold in nearly 180 countries.
• Premium spirits: Pernod Ricard (Euronext: RI), a French-listed company, distributes more than 200 brands such as Absolut, Jameson, and Chivas Regal in over 160 countries.
• U.S.-focused players: Constellation Brands (NYSE: STZ) holds the U.S. rights to Corona and Modelo brands following a 2013 regulatory deal. Brown-Forman (NYSE: BF.B), based in Louisville, Kentucky, is best known for its spirits portfolio.

Diageo alone produces around 40% of all Scotch whisky globally, while Kweichow Moutai generates more than 95% of its sales within China. This geographic split highlights how differently these alcoholic beverage stocks are positioned.
