List of Companies in the MSCI World Index

The MSCI World Index represents a broad global equity benchmark, tracking the performance of large and mid-cap stocks across 23 developed market countries. This index encompasses approximately 85% of the free float-adjusted market capitalization in each included country, providing a comprehensive view of developed market equities. The Information Technology sector typically constitutes the largest and most influential segment, followed by significant weightings in Financials, Healthcare, and Consumer Discretionary sectors.

The largest multinational corporations within the index, such as Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, NVIDIA, and Meta Platforms, hold substantial weightings in the index composition. Consequently, their performance materially influences the overall trajectory of the MSCI World Index.

Inclusion in the MSCI World Index requires meeting stringent global standards. Companies must be headquartered in developed markets, demonstrate significant market capitalization, maintain adequate liquidity through consistent trading volumes, and meet minimum free float requirements ensuring sufficient shares are publicly available. Financial reporting must comply with international accounting standards, and companies must meet MSCI’s governance and operational viability criteria. Regular reviews occur quarterly with comprehensive rebalancing conducted semi-annually in May and November.

The composition of the MSCI World Index is dynamic. MSCI’s Index Committee continuously evaluates constituents based on market capitalization, liquidity, and eligibility criteria. Companies that no longer meet requirements due to market value decline, reduced liquidity, or corporate actions may be removed, while qualifying emerging companies are added to maintain representation.
