List of Companies with Monthly Dividends | Live Table
While most U.S. dividend-paying companies follow a quarterly schedule, roughly 80 to 100 publicly traded stocks distribute income every month. These monthly dividend stocks trade on the NYSE, NASDAQ, and NYSE American, with some Canadian-listed firms and ADRs rounding out the universe.
The monthly payout space is dominated by a few distinct categories:
- REITs (Real Estate Investment Trusts): Required to distribute at least 90% of net income to shareholders, REITs are natural monthly payers. Sub-types include net lease REITs, healthcare REITs, office REITs, and mortgage REITs.
- BDCs (Business Development Companies): These firms provide debt and equity financing to middle-market companies too large for bank loans but too small to go public. Like REITs, BDCs pay no corporate income tax as long as they distribute 90% or more of net income.
- Closed-End Funds (CEFs): Among the oldest fund structures in market history, CEFs trade on exchanges like individual stocks with a fixed share count, and many pay monthly.
- Energy & Utility Companies: Steady consumer demand for water, gas, and electricity supports consistent payout schedules.
- Canadian Royalty Companies: Energy and franchise royalty firms based in Canada are a notable sub-category of monthly payers.
Realty Income (NYSE: O) — often called “The Monthly Dividend Company” — was founded in 1969 and has increased its dividend more than 100 times since listing on the NYSE in 1994. It is a member of the S&P 500 and the S&P 500 Dividend Aristocrats index. Main Street Capital (NYSE: MAIN), one of the oldest internally-managed BDCs, targets companies with annual revenue between $10 million and $150 million. Other names include SL Green Realty (SLG), Manhattan’s largest office landlord; Healthpeak Properties (DOC), the largest healthcare REIT in the U.S.; LTC Properties (LTC), focused on skilled nursing and senior housing; and Gladstone Commercial (GOOD), which has paid monthly distributions for more than 17 consecutive years.
