WisdomTree launched its first 20 dividend-weighted funds on the NYSE on June 16, 2006, becoming a pioneer in smart beta ETFs — funds weighted by fundamental factors like dividends and earnings rather than market capitalization. The company, headquartered in New York City and publicly traded on the NYSE under the ticker “WT,” has grown to approximately 87 U.S.-listed ETFs, making it the 13th largest ETF provider in the country.
WisdomTree brands its approach “Modern Alpha®,” blending elements of passive and active management. Professor Jeremy Siegel of The Wharton School serves as the company’s senior investment strategy advisor, and his research on dividend investment strategies shaped the original family of funds.
WisdomTree ETFs span several categories:
- U.S. Equity: Includes dividend-focused funds like Quality Dividend Growth (DGRW), LargeCap Dividend (DLN), High Dividend (DHS), and SmallCap Dividend (DES), as well as factor-based products like AI Enhanced Value (AIVL) and Multifactor (USMF).
- International & Currency-Hedged: The Japan Hedged Equity Fund (DXJ) and Europe Hedged Equity Fund (HEDJ) provide foreign equity exposure while hedging currency fluctuations against the U.S. dollar. WisdomTree also launched the first international small-cap ETFs in the U.S.

- Currency ETFs: A family of single-currency and currency-basket ETFs that seek to reflect money market rates and currency movements relative to the U.S. dollar.
- Alternatives & Digital Assets: Includes long/short and bearish U.S. equity funds, plus cryptocurrency ETPs listed in Europe on the Swiss stock exchange, such as WisdomTree Crypto Market (BLOC) and WisdomTree Crypto Altcoins (WALT).
